Things were getting pretty wild back in 1970, and it seemed like the entire previous decade had paved the way for cars like this Plymouth Road Runner. Part of the new Rapid Transit System promotion Plymouth introduced that same year, this car defines that moment in historyābig inches, crazy paint and even mild customization that only complements the comprehensive rotisserie restoration it has received.
With the 36 test miles since completion showing on its odometer, this V-code example is one of 222 440 6-BBL Road Runner coupes produced in 1970 equipped with the automatic transmission. Of course, the V meant Victory for its drivers, who could now make the āinā scene on Saturday night with those three 2-barrel Holley carburetors flung wide-open, cranking out 390 ponies though dual exhaust. Behind it is the A727 TorqueFlite 3-speed automatic transmission and an 8-3/4 Sure-Grip differential. Thereās stock Hemi suspension and frame parts as well, and this car hosts power steering, manual brakes, electronic ignition, the 26-inch radiator and a restoration red-cap battery.
