Maserati MCPURA Cielo Tributo 1926 Celebrates a Century of Racing Heritage
Few automotive brands can trace their history back to a single moment that changed everything. For Maserati, that moment came on April 25, 1926, when Alfieri Maserati competed in the Targa Florio behind the wheel of the Tipo 26. It was the first Maserati race car to wear the famous Trident emblem, marking the beginning of one of Italy’s most celebrated performance brands. One hundred years later, Maserati has honored that legacy with the creation of a truly special automobile, the MCPURA Cielo Tributo 1926.
The exclusive one off model was delivered to its owner in Modena during the 2026 Mille Miglia, creating a symbolic connection between Maserati’s racing past and its modern future. The timing could not have been more fitting. As historic race cars traveled through the streets of Modena during the famous Mille Miglia event, Maserati unveiled a vehicle designed specifically to celebrate the centenary of the Trident logo.
Created through Maserati’s Fuoriserie customization program, the MCPURA Cielo Tributo 1926 draws inspiration directly from the legendary Tipo 26. Every detail was carefully designed to capture the spirit of 1920s motorsport while showcasing the advanced engineering and luxury expected from a modern Maserati supercar.
The exterior features a distinctive Grigio Lamiera Matte finish that reflects the raw appearance of early racing machines. Complementing the unique paintwork is a custom livery that incorporates Rosso Capannelle, Blu Infinito, and Bianco Pastello. Together, these colors create a striking tribute to Maserati’s racing heritage while giving the car an unmistakably modern presence.
Several details make the MCPURA Cielo Tributo 1926 especially meaningful for enthusiasts. The car features a recreated Tipo 26 badge inspired by original historical documentation. The Trident logo appears in special blue and white finishes that blend the modern Maserati identity with the original emblem designed by Mario Maserati in 1926. Door plaques also pay tribute to Alfieri Maserati and mechanic Guerino Bertocchi, the men who helped launch the brand’s racing success a century ago.
The Mille Miglia has always played an important role in Maserati history. The brand first entered the prestigious race in 1931 with the Tipo 26 C, and over the decades Maserati vehicles have become a familiar sight at some of the world’s most famous motorsport events. Delivering the MCPURA Cielo Tributo 1926 during the Mille Miglia created a powerful reminder of the company’s deep roots in competition and performance.
Beyond its historical significance, the MCPURA Cielo remains one of Maserati’s most advanced supercars. Based on the open top version of the MC20 platform, the vehicle combines exotic styling, cutting edge technology, and race inspired performance. The result is a modern supercar that honors the past while looking firmly toward the future.
As Maserati celebrates 100 years of the Trident, the MCPURA Cielo Tributo 1926 stands as a remarkable tribute to the vision, innovation, and racing spirit that have defined the brand since its earliest days. It is more than a custom vehicle. It is a rolling piece of Maserati history that connects a century of achievement with the next generation of Italian performance cars.
