Truth be told, the Dodge Challenger showed up as one of Detroit’s most honest marketing names. Entering a foray that already included the Mustang, Camaro, Cougar and Firebird, its moniker connotated a desire to fight, and this one is built for the job. The recipient of a rotisserie restoration, this classic convertible came from the factory with the B-series 383 big-block but is now upgraded to the RB-series 440 CI Magnum V-8 engine beneath the twin-scoop sport hood. Rated at 375 HP and featuring a dual snorkel air cleaner and 4-barrel carburetor, this was the largest displacement offered by Chrysler if you wanted factory air conditioning, a feature convertible owners are quick to appreciate in this Challenger’s sun-filled interior. An A727 Torqueflite automatic transmission is behind this, and ordering the big-block also meant an 8.75-inch differential was standard. This car features power steering and power disc brakes as well.

The exterior has been painted in Sublime Green paint and features the special sport hood, a flip-open gas filler, R/T fender emblems and 440 Magnum callout tags. Kept in climate-controlled storage, the car has a gorgeous white interior that is covered by a matching power-operated white convertible top. The interior features the high-back front bucket seats, a center console with simulated woodgrain shift knob and applique, an AM radio, a sport-type chrome remote driver’s side mirror, and the podded dash design that showed up with the new E-body model that year. Like the dash, the steering wheel and door panels were accented with embossed simulated woodgrain, and a final touch was its chrome pedal dress-ups.
