Ram has officially pulled the cover off the 2027 Dakota Laramie, giving the public its first look at the upscale version of the brand’s all-new midsize pickup. The debut took place at this year’s São Paulo International Auto Show, where Ram highlighted how important this truck is for its South American lineup ahead of its 2026 market launch.

A Major Return to the Midsize Segment

This new Dakota marks Ram’s first entry back into the midsize truck class since the brand separated from Dodge in 2009. The Laramie trim—known for blending luxury and functionality—was chosen to showcase the model’s premium direction.

To give fans a closer experience, Ram also opened a special “Casa Ram Dakota” display at Clube Esperia in São Paulo, offering demonstrations, product walk-arounds, and exclusive previews alongside the auto show.

Refined Styling With Laramie Signature Details

Ram gave the Dakota Laramie a strong, polished look to separate it from the lower trims:

  • A bold chrome grille featuring the trademark “R-A-M” lettering
  • A full-width LED light bar that ties into the headlamps, including animated start-up and shut-down sequences
  • Chrome accents throughout the exterior for a premium finish
  • 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels wrapped in 265/60R18 tires
  • A new launch color called “Terra Sunrise,” created specifically for this debut

Premium Interior With Modern Tech

Inside, the Dakota Laramie mixes comfort, technology, and practical design:

  • Brown premium leather upholstery with soft-touch materials across the cabin
  • A layered center console featuring dual storage areas, cup holders, USB + USB-C fast charging, and a 12V outlet
  • Large 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, off-road pages, and a full 360° camera suite
  • A “transparent vehicle” camera mode to help with tight trails and obstacles
  • Digital gauge cluster, dual-zone climate control (with rear vents), ventilated wireless phone charging, power-adjustable front seats, and push-button start

Diesel Power and Real Capability

Under the hood, the Dakota Laramie uses a 2.2-liter Multijet II turbodiesel making 200 horsepower and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic.

The truck offers multiple drive modes—2WD, 4WD Auto, and 4WD Low—with automatic torque distribution for changing road conditions. Additional capability features include:

  • Electronic locking rear differential
  • Hill descent control
  • 1,020 kg (2,248 lbs) payload capacity
  • 3.5-ton (7,716 lbs) maximum towing
  • 1,210-liter cargo bed with LED lighting, soft-opening tailgate, and electronic lock
