Leapmotor B05 Brings Sporty Style and Everyday Practicality to the Electric Vehicle Market
As electric vehicles continue to evolve, automakers are looking for ways to make them more exciting and emotionally engaging. The new Leapmotor B05 aims to do exactly that. Designed as the brand’s first sporty electric hatchback, the B05 combines attractive styling, impressive performance, advanced technology, and everyday usability in a package built specifically for modern drivers.
Leapmotor recently invited automotive journalists from across Europe to experience the new B05 during a media drive event in Germany’s scenic Rhine Valley region. The winding roads, elevation changes, and picturesque countryside provided the perfect environment to showcase both the vehicle’s dynamic handling and comfortable cruising characteristics. According to the company, the B05 represents a new direction for the brand and introduces a fresh approach to electric mobility focused on driving enjoyment rather than simply efficiency.
The exterior design immediately sets the B05 apart from many traditional electric vehicles. Its coupe inspired hatchback profile, wide stance, frameless doors, hidden door handles, and aerodynamic styling give it a more premium appearance than many competitors in the segment. The vehicle measures 4.43 meters long and features a drag coefficient of just 0.26, helping improve efficiency while maintaining a sporty presence on the road.
Inside, the cabin focuses on comfort and technology. Drivers are greeted by a large 14.6 inch infotainment display paired with an 8.8 inch digital instrument cluster. Premium materials, heated seats, a panoramic glass roof, and multiple storage solutions help create an interior that feels both modern and practical. The vehicle’s connected features allow owners to remotely monitor charging, control climate settings, and access digital key functions through the Leapmotor mobile app.
Performance is another area where the B05 hopes to stand out. The rear wheel drive electric hatchback produces up to 218 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque. With launch control activated, the vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds. Engineers from Stellantis also worked alongside Leapmotor during development to fine tune the chassis for European driving preferences, helping deliver a balance of responsive handling and ride comfort.
The B05 is available with two battery options. Buyers can choose between a 56.2 kWh battery offering up to 401 kilometers of WLTP range or a larger 67.1 kWh battery capable of delivering up to 482 kilometers of range. Fast charging technology allows the battery to recharge from 30 percent to 80 percent in approximately 17 minutes, making long distance travel more convenient.
Safety remains a major focus for the new model. The B05 includes 21 advanced driver assistance features supported by multiple sensors and cameras. A seven airbag system and high strength body structure are designed to provide protection for occupants while enhancing driver confidence in a variety of road conditions.
One of the most appealing aspects of the B05 may be its value proposition. Industry observers and early reviewers have noted that the vehicle offers specifications comparable to established rivals such as the Volkswagen ID.3 while potentially arriving at a significantly lower price point. Several online reviews have praised the B05’s combination of technology, performance, and affordability, suggesting it could become a serious contender in the growing electric hatchback segment.
The launch of the B05 is an important milestone for Leapmotor as it continues expanding internationally through its partnership with Stellantis. By blending sporty design, modern technology, practical range, and competitive pricing, the B05 represents a bold step forward for the company and demonstrates how rapidly the electric vehicle market continues to evolve. For buyers looking for something more exciting than the typical electric commuter car, the Leapmotor B05 may be one of the most interesting new arrivals of 2026.
