A seriously wild piece of Mopar muscle is headed to Mecum’s Kansas City auction this December: a custom-built 1968 Dodge Dart packing modern Hellcat power and show-car craftsmanship from front to back.
Nicknamed “Blow Dart,” the car was built by LexiJ, Inc./RMR Dreamcars in Hudson, Florida, and represents roughly 2,000 hours of fabrication, engineering, and detail work. Originally showcased at the 2016 SEMA Show, this Dart blends classic A-body styling with today’s high-performance tech.
Modern Muscle Under the Hood
Instead of the factory small-block, the Dart now houses a 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat HEMI V8, topped with a Kenne Bell supercharger for even more punch. Power is routed through a 4L80E overdrive automatic transmission, giving it both strength and street-friendly drivability.
Upgraded to Handle the Power
The builder didn’t just focus on horsepower — the entire chassis was modernized to keep up. Highlights include:
- Gerst tubular front cradle with coil-overs
- Gerst rear suspension setup
- Strange Engineering 9-inch rear end
- Rack-and-pinion steering
- Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes
These upgrades bring 21st-century handling and stopping power to a 1968 platform.
Custom Looks and Interior
Inside, the Dart features:
- Rallye-style bucket seats
- Dakota Digital gauge cluster
- Flaming River steering wheel
- Vintage Air climate control
- Hand-finished custom trim
Outside, the bumpers were hydro-dipped to mimic carbon fiber, and the car rides on one-off custom wheels, giving it a show-ready look from every angle.
