Citroën Expands Engine Choices to Suit Families, Leisure Users and Professionals
Citroën recently announced updates to its range of engines, offering customers more flexibility and efficient choices across a variety of models to better meet everyday needs. The changes reflect the brand’s strategy to provide a wide selection of energy options that balance performance, efficiency and practicality for families, leisure-oriented drivers and professionals.
At the heart of the update is the C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid, which now delivers 225 horsepower, up from 195 horsepower in its previous version. This enhancement improves overall driving dynamics while maintaining strong efficiency. The plug-in hybrid powertrain combines a combustion engine with an electric motor and a 21.5 kWh battery that enables up to 113 kilometers of all-electric driving in urban conditions and a total range that can exceed 1,100 kilometers. The larger fuel tank also supports longer highway journeys without sacrificing comfort or capability.
The Berlingo range, known for its practicality and appeal among active lifestyles, has also been broadened. Citroën has reintroduced an entry-level petrol engine producing 110 horsepower to accompany the existing electric ë-Berlingo. In addition, BlueHDi diesel engines with 100 and 130 horsepower are returning to the lineup, offering families and frequent travelers the option of long-distance range and quick stops at fuel stations. Everyday driving ease and reduced running costs remain key priorities in these updates.
For larger family vehicles and professional use, the SpaceTourer, Holidays and Jumpy models now feature a new 2.2-liter diesel engine with outputs of 150 and 180 horsepower. This updated powertrain delivers higher torque at lower engine speeds, improved flexibility when carrying heavy loads or navigating busy roads, and lower fuel consumption and emissions compared with the outgoing unit. These benefits are particularly noticeable during extended trips and full-load driving.
Citroën’s expanded engine choices aim to ensure that customers can choose the best combination of energy and performance for their requirements, whether it’s a plug-in hybrid for zero-emission urban travel, a petrol or diesel engine for versatility on long road trips, or reliable power for professional journeys. By broadening the powertrain lineup, Citroën continues to respond to diverse customer preferences and lifestyles across its vehicle range.
