2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee Brings 600 Horsepower and a Serious Performance Upgrade

Dodge is bringing back one of its most recognizable muscle car names for a new generation. The 2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee has officially been revealed, and this time the legendary badge is attached to the most powerful gas powered Charger Sixpack yet.

Instead of simply adding a few graphics and calling it a special edition, Dodge has given the Super Bee a collection of upgrades aimed at making the Charger quicker and more capable when the road gets twisty or the track opens up. At the center of it all is a 600 horsepower version of the twin turbocharged 3.0 liter Hurricane inline six engine.

A New Super Bee for a New Era

The Super Bee name has a long history within the Dodge brand. It originally appeared in 1968 on the Dodge Coronet as a more affordable muscle car with serious performance intentions. The name later appeared on the Charger and returned several times over the years as a special performance model.

For 2027, Dodge is using the Super Bee name to push the current Charger Sixpack into another level of performance.

The new Super Bee produces 600 horsepower and 531 pound feet of torque. That represents a significant jump over the regular Charger Sixpack Scat Pack, which produces 550 horsepower from the high output Hurricane engine.

Dodge says the Super Bee can reach 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds and run the quarter mile in 11.8 seconds. Those numbers put the new Charger firmly into modern muscle car territory, even without the V8 engine that once defined Dodge performance.

More Than Just a Powerful Engine

The extra horsepower is only part of the story. Dodge has equipped the Super Bee with hardware designed to make better use of that power.

The car receives unique aerodynamic components, upgraded Brembo brakes and wider 20 inch wheels wrapped in Goodyear summer performance tires. Adaptive dampers are also part of the package, giving the Charger greater control when pushed hard.

Dodge has added dedicated Drag and Track drive modes as well. That gives owners the ability to tailor the car for different types of performance driving rather than simply relying on the standard settings.

There is also a Cosworth Drive Experience Recorder that allows drivers to collect and review track data. For enthusiasts who want to improve their driving, that could make the Super Bee more than just a straight line muscle car.

All Wheel Drive Meets 600 Horsepower

The 2027 Charger Super Bee uses an eight speed automatic transmission and all wheel drive. That combination should help the car put its 600 horsepower to the pavement more effectively, particularly during hard launches.

The modern Charger platform has taken Dodge muscle in a different direction. The current gas powered Charger relies on the Hurricane inline six instead of the Hemi V8 that powered many of the brand’s most famous performance models.

For some Mopar fans, the lack of a V8 will remain a sticking point. Still, the Super Bee demonstrates that Dodge is willing to extract serious performance from the Hurricane engine rather than treating it as simply a replacement for the Hemi.

The Super Bee Looks the Part

Performance is only half of the Super Bee formula. Dodge has also given the car the visual attitude expected from a model carrying such a famous name.

The Super Bee features distinctive graphics and appearance upgrades that separate it from the standard Charger lineup. The overall design continues the modern interpretation of the Charger while adding the visual cues associated with a limited performance model.

That combination should appeal to buyers who want something more exclusive than a standard Charger without moving into the electric Charger Daytona lineup.

A Limited Launch Edition

Dodge is introducing the 2027 Charger Super Bee as a limited Launch Edition. The company has not yet announced final pricing, which means buyers will have to wait a little longer to find out just how much extra the 600 horsepower model will command.

The regular 2027 gas powered Charger starts at roughly $51,990 for the R/T Coupe according to current pricing information, while the Scat Pack sits higher in the lineup. The Super Bee is expected to command a premium because of its additional power and performance hardware.

Is This the Charger Enthusiasts Have Been Waiting For?

The return of the Super Bee is interesting because Dodge is trying to answer a difficult question. How do you keep the spirit of a traditional American muscle car alive when the industry is moving toward electrification and smaller turbocharged engines?

The answer appears to be more performance.

The new Super Bee does not have the classic Hemi soundtrack, but it does have 600 horsepower, all wheel drive, serious brakes, performance tires and hardware intended for track use. It also retains the aggressive attitude that has helped define the Charger for generations.

The 2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee also shows that Dodge is not finished developing the gas powered Charger. While the electric Charger Daytona represents one side of the brand’s future, the Super Bee gives traditional performance fans another reason to keep paying attention.

The biggest question now is price and availability. If Dodge manages to keep the Super Bee reasonably attainable, this could become one of the most desirable modern Charger special editions yet.
